After a long wait, the real construction of the Puy de Fou leisure park finally began yesterday with the formal laying of the foundation stone. The ceremony actually consisted of the planting of an oak tree, with which its promoters symbolically expressed their respect for the environment and the roots this project aims to strengthen in Toledo.

According to its promoters, the initial phase is expected to create around 2,500 jobs, with an investment of €245 million, aiming to ensure that all visitors can be thrilled by the shows on offer.

The factors that led those responsible to choose the capital of Castile-La Mancha were the historical peculiarities of the city of Toledo, its location in central Spain, and its proximity to Madrid.

Its president, Nicolás de Villiers, stated that this park is a model of art and leisure, featuring fictional representations but with history as its backdrop.
